Pat McGrath Stuns with Her First-Ever Permanent Makeup Collection
This is it. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for.

All aboard the mother ship—but take your time, there’s no need to rush. Pat McGrath Labs has yet another major launch today and, unlike past collections from the makeup maverick, this one will be re-stocked… indefinitely. (Is that a deep sigh of relief we hear?). McGrath has built off of her Lust: MatteTrance lipsticks to create a full range of products, including bling-worthy eye-shadow palettes, lip pencils, eye pencils, mascara, and (more!) lipstick.
All of the three shadow palettes showcase 10 dramatic shades that apply smooth as silk, and range in finishes from matte to metallic. Subliminal transports us to the fairy-lit shores of Greece, with a sea of matte neutrals and shimmering blues. Sublime is elegant yet bold, with a frog-prince-green and midas-touch gold. And Subversive, with its dark, smoldering hues, is fit for a downright disco queen. We’ll take all three, please.
You already know how we feel about the last lipstick launch (in summary, we’re obsessed), and now we have 31 more shades to play with. In addition to the MatteTrance lipsticks, McGrath developed LuxeTrance, a cream formulation that is every bit as hydrating, bold, and long-wearing as the original. Then there are the lip pencils, which are entirely versatile and can be used to define the mouth shape or to fill the lips for a more full-bodied effect. Read our lips—once they dry, they’re not going anywhere.
To further accentuate the eyes, McGrath created the PermaGel Eye Pencil in five shades, from black to blue, with varying matte and pearlescent finishes. We love layering a bold liner on top of our already-luminous lids courtesy of the Mothership Eye Palettes. Complete the full look with a swipe (or several) of the Dark Star Mascara— the full brush delivers major volume for rock-star-style lashes.
McGrath—who is widely known as "Mother" among the fashion and beauty ranks—enlisted the help of 16 young artists, all of which she discovered across social media, to design the origami-style packaging. The artworks vary in medium, but they all take inspiration from McGrath’s makeup. The artist even created her own language, in the form of hallmarks—little gold stamps that carry the company’s initials, a crown, a pair of lips, and an eye—as a way to symbolize what each product is.
So, what would our hallmark be? A gold stamp of approval, of course!
